Municipal Public Policy on Children, Adolescents and Youth in Huehuetenango

Description of the initiative

This initiative was presented by the municipal authorities as a public-policy shaping exercise that involved tens of children, adolescents, and youth. The reason for its creation is that the municipality of Huehuetenango lacks a public policy on children, adolescents and youth, despite the fact that young people make up 70% of its population.

Activities:

Young people have had a say in decision-making in government committees and projects.

“Taking part in the public-policy shaping meetings on children, adolescents, and youth has better prepared me for political participation in high-level forums and to participate in the election of the youth organizations' representative in the local civil service at departmental level."

Challenges:

Mobilization of additional resources to continue the final stage of construction of the public policy on children, adolescents and youth
